How I Teach

In Person

I provide math help and tutoring lessons in all subjects in person for local students in the Denver, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, Englewood, Lone Tree, Parker, Centennial, Aurora, Golden, Arvada, Broomfield, Thornton, and other surrounding areas! I usually meet with students in a mutually-convenient public coffee shop or library which can place me close to you! I am always open to places the student would like to work. We can work on class work or material you need outside of a particular class as well!

Online

I also provide math help and tutoring for non-local students in addition to local students wanting the convenience of this online format. Online tutoring is not weather dependent, removes travel and commuting time, and is extra convenient in your own home! My method of online tutoring allows screen sharing for online problems, a camera on my whiteboard to show what I write even larger than in person, and offers other great advantages like file sharing and visualization tools for math and science. I’ve had many students who were very surprised at how effective online tutoring was for them so give a first lesson a shot; you’ll probably love it!

Subjects I Teach

I teach all major math class subjects from middle school to college, as well as help prepare for standardized tests including AP math tests, college entrance exams, engineering exams, SAT and ACT math, the SAT math subject test and the math GRE test. Classes I cover include Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I, II & III (including all AP and honors), Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. I teach these topics at all levels including first-time students in these classes to adults returning to college!

Qualifications

I have conducted thousands of hours of tutoring in the past years in math and science! I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Applied Physics a few months after obtaining my Bachelor’s Engineering physics; we deal with many branches of math all the time in approaching physics and traditionally score very well on college math tests as a result! I have a thorough understanding of all of the classes I teach and know exactly how to impart this understanding to my students. Check out my qualifications page for more details!

I would love to hear from you! I am always taking new students and I don’t require any commitment or obligation to future lessons; you can work with me once or twice to prepare for a test, or any amount of times weekly for all or parts of your class! I don’t require students to take the same block of time each week either. I’d love to discuss your needs!

Rob M.
AP Calc AB, SAT PrepChemistry

“Alex taught me a majority of the AP Calculus AB curriculum in under two months, and I was able to score a 5 on the AP exam. As the only student from my school studying AP Calculus, I had a difficult time knowing where to start with the daunting curriculum. After meeting with Alex once, I had an action plan to carry me through the last two months before the AP Calculus test. I was impressed with both the efficiency and effectiveness of Alex’s online lessons. It is easy to learn from Alex because he translates the extremely difficult concepts of advanced mathematics into something easier for a student to digest. Although initially skeptical of online tutoring, I found that learning online was easy and better accommodated my busy schedule. Currently, Alex is teaching me the more advanced concepts on the SAT Math II Subject test. I look forward to a STEM related major in college and rest assured knowing that I will always have readily accessible math help.

Calculus, Linear Algebra, Physics

“Coming to Alex was one of the best decisions I ever made! Not only does he help me understand topics I don’t feel confident on but he also helps me grasp a better understanding of topics I understand well. My sophomore year of college I found Alex after I was really struggling in Calc 3. Not only did Alex help me pass the class with flying colors but I really felt like he cared about my progress and understanding of the topics. He has helped me in numerous other subjects as well and has helped me gain confidence as a STEM student.”

Algebra II, Physics

“I was struggling with algebra 2 in the beginning of the year, but Alex showed up in my life and he was really being helpful. His lessons are neither easy nor too challenging; I love the way he teaches because he never forgets a detail, and he always provide extra practice problems for me. Now I am studying pre calc, and Alex is still my math tutor. He also communicates with me so well that he often teaches me extra problem solving strategies that teachers do not mention in class!”

AP Calculus

“Alex has helped me through calculus and physics for my senior year of high school. Since we started working together I find myself feeling more confident during tests and quizzes than before. He also manages to make dry subjects interesting and easy to understand.”
